PLN Indonesia Power Ties Off-Grid Solar Programme to Global Carbon Market via ERPA with DevvStream

PT PLN Indonesia Power (PLN IP), the generation subsidiary of Indonesia’s state utility PLN, has signed an Emission Reduction Purchase Agreement (ERPA) with DevvStream to market Verified Emission Reductions (VERs) generated by a portfolio of off-grid solar photovoltaic projects across Indonesia. PLN IP President Director BernadusSudarmanta and DevvStream CEO Sunny Trinh signed the agreement in Jakarta, reportedly on 5 February 2026, according to Indonesian state newswire ANTARA.

The solar installations covered by the ERPA are off-grid systems designed for on-site self-consumption rather than connection to Indonesia’s main power grid. PLN IP said this design keeps the projects aligned with applicable environmental and carbon-market regulations. VERs arising from multiple project locations across Indonesia will be packaged and placed into international voluntary carbon markets by DevvStream, acting as PLN IP’s designated global partner.

PLN IP management framed the deal as a structural step in the company’s “beyond kWh” strategic pivot, which aims to diversify revenue beyond conventional electricity sales into integrated clean-energy services — spanning renewable energy provision, carbon management, and customer energy-asset optimisation. The company stated its intention to scale up off-grid solar deployment and use voluntary carbon market proceeds as a recurring income stream, while also positioning the initiative as a contribution to Indonesia’s national decarbonisation agenda.
