Indonesia’s IDXCarbon Discloses Pipeline of 9.5 Million tCO₂e, Worth Up to Rp1.39 Trillion

Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority (OJK) has disclosed to parliament that a pipeline of additional tradeable carbon units totalling 9.5 million tCO2e could be worth between Rp560.9 billion and Rp1.39 trillionat current IDXCarbon market prices. OJK Chair Friderica Widyasari Dewi — publicly known as “Kiky” — presented the projections at a working session with the Indonesian parliament’s Commission XI in Jakarta on 21 May 2026.

The pipeline breaks down into two streams: 49 new project applicants projected to yield approximately 7.69 million tCO2e, and 10 existing projects expected to contribute a further 2.15 million tCO2e. Since IDXCarbon’s launch on 26 September 2023 through 30 April 2026, the exchange has registered 155 participants and ten active projects carrying SPE-GRK certificates, with cumulative trading volume of 1.98 million tCO2e and aggregate transaction value of Rp93.75 billion.

Kiky used the session to contextualise Indonesia’s progress against larger markets, citing the EU carbon exchange at USD 700 billion and China’s at USD 40 billion. Her framing positioned the pipeline data as evidence of latent upside rather than current scale.
